History

The Château de Ransanne, whose construction dates back to the 15th century, is listed in the French Historical Monuments List. The family of Ransanne de Charbon Blanc was descended from the old house of Ransanne. Guillaume de Ransanne, a knight, was the first lord of these lands, whose tithes he paid to the abbey in Saintes.

In the nineties, this small fifteenth-century castle looked run down with its dilapidated walls, broken tiles and worm-eaten floors! But how charming! Situated in vast grounds, woods and meadows, the gardens had to be redesigned and the park replanted.

In the 2000s, Château de Ransanne was given a new lease of life!

Today, the comfort and tranquillity of the estate mean you could almost forget this odyssey.

A castle is not a house like any other. You do not own it. It enchants you. With its secrets, its creaks and other rattling noises, and the marks engraved in its stone, it reminds you that you are among the many guests who have succeeded each other for more than 500 years. You live in it just like it lives in you. Inexorably, it reminds you of your duty as a storyteller.
